Born in Tehran, Iran, Ray Aghayan (1928) worked as a costume designer from 1957 to 1997. Aghayan was nominated for an Oscar for his work on Funny Lady (1975), Lady Sings with the Blues (1972), and Gaily, Gaily (1969). He also won Emmy Awards for The 64th Academy Awards (1992), Diana Ross: Red Hot Rhythm and Blues (1987), and Alice Through the Looking Glass (1966)
