William K. Horning was a pioneering art director in Hollywood, active primarily in the 1940s and 1950s. He is renowned for his work on epic and visually stunning films, contributing to the look, sets, and overall visual design that became hallmarks of classic Hollywood cinema. Horning began his career in the art department at Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer (MGM) and rose to become one of the studio's leading art directors. His credits include Ben-Hur (1959), North by Northwest (1959), Marie Antoinette (1938), Singin' in the Rain (1952) and Brigadoon (1954). Won Best Art Direction for Ben-Hur (1959) at the Academy Awards.
