Herbert Dickens Ryman (June 28, 1910 - Feb 10, 1989) was an artist who worked in a multitude of medians of art. He was a personal friend of Walt Disney and was often called to help with Walt Disney Studios on many projects over the course of five decades. Ryman worked full-time for Disney in 1938 when Pinocchio, Dumbo, Fantasia were in the planning stages. He also designed many major pictures for Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer and 20th Century Fox during Hollywood's “golden age”. He was a major contributor to the screen styling of David Copperfield, A Tale of Two Cities, Anna Kerenina and Mutiny on the Bounty.
